The President of the Hellenic Parliament, Nikos Voutsis, and head of a delegation of Greek MPs and officials of the Parliament, was shown around Kazimierz, Poland, this morning.
The “Jewish Quarter”, as most people call it, was the heart of the Jewish community in Krakow. Kazimierz was the place of concentration of the Jews in the region by the Nazis, before they were taken to the Auschwitz concentration camps.
Afterwards, the President of the Parliament will go to Auschwitz to participate in the “March of the Living“, which will headed by Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew. After the end of these commemorations, Nikos Voutsis will inaugurate the exhibition, in a special ceremony, that will then be placed in the Permanent Greek Exhibition at the Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial and Museum.
